After Hurricane Harvey's landfall in the Houston metropolitan area, the city was working to assist people who lost their homes to temporary locations. From there, organizations such as, Adopt-A-Family, paired AYUDH Houston with multiple families who needed assistance in getting lost home goods and personal items.
With the help material and monetary donations received from across the country, AYUDH Houston was able to donation 20 + items to each family ranging from beds and blankets to pots and pans. Members contacted each family to understand their current situation and needs.
After understanding what each family needed, collection for materials and money began and within a week, all three families' items were collected/ purchased and delivered to their locations.
Currently, we are planning to uptake more families and help them rebuild their lives.
